Established in memory of  Rebbetzin Chana Schneerson with the blessings and guidance of The Lubavitcher Rebbe:
Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson

Bais Chana of California Women's Yeshiva Is Dedicated To:

Providing guidance in the pathway of Judaism, Torah and its commandments as it is illuminated with the deeper light and vitality of the teachings of Chassidic philosophy.
Protecting the holiness of Jewish Women and their families, through strengthening their commitments to G-d, and life guided by Torah.
Offering a compassionate resource for mentor companionship and networking for the Jewish Woman and her family.
Preparing the world for a universal commitment to G-d by encouraging morality, goodness, and kindness, and by disseminating the teachings of Torah with its inner dimensions.

Sixteen years ago, in the spring of  (5750/1990), the Lubavitcher Rebbe gave his blessing to a newly formed organization that would carry his mother’s name – Bais Chana of California Women’s Yeshiva. Since then, on numerous occasions, additional brochas were received. The Rebbe stressed the importance that the Yeshiva “should be a continued endeavor and with an increase.”

With the blessings of the Rebbe, Bais Chana has seen tremendous growth. From a small group of women attending sporadic classes, it has matured into an organization with a student list of several hundred women, and an educational program that is continually expanding. The number of people who have been positively affected by Bais Chana’s work reaches well into the thousands.

In the year  (5766/2005-2006) alone, hundreds of Jewish women from throughout California – plus visitors from all parts of the globe, as well as a sprinkling of men attending special “coed” events – benefitted from Bais Chana programs. As an organization, Bais Chana is today dedicated to: • Providing Jewish women with quality education in the areas of religious tradition, spirituality, the importance and strengths of the Jewish woman, family values, raising children in Yiddishkeit, and the Jewish home; • Serving as a resource for Jewish women looking for guidance, networking and companionship; and • Strengthening the community by promoting the importance of the Jewish home and family.

While Bais Chana focuses mainly on the needs of the vast numbers of ba’al teshuva women who did not have the benefit of day school or yeshiva educations because they came to Torah observance when they were already past school age, it also reaches large numbers of women for whom its programs are among their very first exposures to Torah observant Yiddishkeit. For both groups, Bais Chana’s lively farbrengens, the depth and breadth of the subjects it presents, and the social overtone of its events, serve as a Kiddush Hashem . . . encouraging those new to Yiddishkeit to “keep coming back” while re-educating and rejuvenating those who are already Torah observant.

Bais Chana’s ultimate goal is to expose Jewish women to the wellsprings of Chassidus and to disseminate the vital teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in order to prepare the world for the final Redemption. May the merit of your continued support of Bais Chana’s vital work help speed its coming, and may we all merit to see the Rebbe and the Geulah immediately in our day.
